Lithuania - Russia II

The second part of the hike from the tripoint to the Lake Vištytis. After the swampy part with the duckheads it goes a bit uphill. The last part to the lake goes down again. Many angles in the border, so many borderpoles as well.

III-1 20140407 Two poles
At the end of the duckheads I found two Lithuanina borderpoles. Should be 1.8 and 1.9. From here I didn't count them anymore.
III-1 20140407 Watchtower
Out of nothing a watchtower appeared. It's constructed on the highest point of the Lithuanina part of the area. This one is in use. I had been seen by a border guard who came down quickley.
III-1 20140407 Checking documents
A very friendly border guard came to me. Of course he wanted to check my documents and the permission. Everything was all rihgt. He spoke English very well and was interested in what I was doing. We spoke for about 5 minutes and then we wished eachother good luck. I continued my way to the lake, he went back up to his tower. I survived the first inspection of my permission wihtout any damage.
III-1 20140407 Next pole
The inspection road along the border continues. Again many angles in the border. And again new border markers and new Lithuanian poles without inscription or number.
III-1 20140407 Going down
The path goes down through the woods. On the left side is the border. If there were no new borderpoles here, you wouldn't recognize it.
View at the lake
Almost there. Now the path goes rather steep. From here you have a nice view over the lake. Notice on the left the pole in the water and at the right also some buoys. These buoys mark the zone for sailing and fishing.
III-1 20140407 View at the lake
Still many bordermarkers here. It's very easy to cross the border here, but I didn't. However, you won't get far: the Russian fence will stop you anyway.
III-1 20140407 At the lake
Finally I reached the lake. It's really a beautiful area here.
The Lithuaninas made a simple wooden construction here. Not clear to me for what purpose.
III-1 20140407 Lake
There is a yellow marker on the wood. I don't know its function. The real border must be somewhere on the left. Everything is quiet here, no activity. Ideal place for relaxing holydays.
III-1 20140407 Border buoy
The first buoy in the Lake Vištytis. "B" is cyrillic and means "V" (Vištytis).
From here I hiked back to my car at the tripoint. I waved to the border guard in the tower. He waved back. Then I continued following this border in Vištytis, some 8 kilometer north.
