Poland - Russia II

A bit disappointed by the quick arrival in Mażucie of some border guards, I drove to Zytkiejmy. The border to Russia is easy to reach here. There is an old road which stops at the border. In the past there was also a railway line. To avoid trouble I stayed only very short there. I saw cameras and motion sensors.

III-1 20140407 Old road
The old road from Zytkiejmy to Яковлевка (Yakovlevka) in Russia. It's only used by farmers to reach their land and meadows. And of course, by border guards.
III-1 20140407 End of the road
Close to the boundary the road stops. A nice gate prevents you to drive into Russia.
Rather unusual here is a fence. I only saw that in Szczurkowo, also close to a village. It's understandable that they make a fence in populated areas.
At the right you can see a camera.

Close to the border you often see these signs. This one has a motion detector. I saw them also during my trip earlier this year. They make a terrible noice to warn you. I don't think they are connected to any system, they look rather cheap.

Time to go back to the tripoint.

III-1 20140407 Small lake
Some 500 meters from the tripoint I followed the border to the tripoint Poland - Russia - Lithuania. I couldn't go that close.
Here a small lake with lots of birds. The lake is on the Russian side.
III-1 20140407 Borderpoles 1988
Hundred meter back I found this pair 1988. Impossible to get the number on the picture: the bright sun reflected all the light on the poles.

From here I walked straight back to the tripoint. No border guards here.

Once again it was hard and disappointing to picture the Polish - Russian border. I was fed up with it! Time now for the last border for this trip: Russia - Lithuania.
