Tripoint Estonia - Russia - Latvia

After my visit to the Luhamaa area I drove to the tripoint EE-RU-LV. First I crossed the EE-LV border on the E77: I wanted to approach it from the Latvian side, as there is a road that come close to the tripoint. To be honest, this tripoint was a bit disappointing. The area was covered with high vegetation and water plants. I couldn't find a bridge between Latvia and Estonia.

I crossed the border between Estonia and Latvia on the E77 at border crossing Veclaincene - Murati. The border makes some angles there and of course I stopped to picture some bordermarkers here.

This is bordermarker 70 +53 close to the road. The '+53' means that it stands 53 meters from the real bordermarker 53.
This one was on the south (left) side of the road.

This one is on the north side of the road. Mind the little cap these borderpoles have!

No activities here anymore. The E77 has a bypass to avoid the old customer offices.
III-1 20140407 The entance of the road to the tripoint EE-RU-LV
This road is visible on Google maps but strange enough not on Openstreetmaps. It leads from the Latvian side to the tripoint. It's only used by border guards I guess. But I was allowed to enter it as well, as I had a special permission which came into force now! I was wondering if I would meet any border guards here.
III-1 20140407 End of the road
The road ends near the borderpoles 637 between Latvia and Russia. There is a little shed where the borderguards can stay. No one was waiting for me, no one was at home.
III-1 20140407 Tripoint Estonia - Russia - Latvia
From the bordermarkers 637 the border goes in a straight line to the river Pededze. And then it goes about 12 meters up, where the tripoint is. It must be somewhere here, although it's not indicated at all and it was rather hard to have a proper orientation. I had to take care not to to enter Russia or fall into the water. And again it was very hot and there were musqueitos and horse flies everywhere!

A bit south I found EE-LV borderpole 47 on the other side of the Pededze. Again hard to take a good picture due to the wild and high grown vegetation everywhere and the bright sun.
III-1 20140407 Borderpoles 637
The last borderpoles on the Latvian - Russian border. They look quite new. When Jan Krogh visited this place in 2003, the boundary between Latvia and Russia was not ratified yet and there were no borderpoles then. Now they are there!
The Russian one looks different from those between Russia and Estonia. I think these are made of plastic. Unfortunately I could not go there and feel the material. I stayed at Estonian side to avoid any trouble.
If you don't see them, it doesn't mean they don't see you!
The meaning of the '1' on Latvian side, I don't know. I saw suchs numbers on more places on the Latvia-Russian border.
III-1 20140407 A look at the North East
A long and straight corridor as demarcation between Russia and Latvia. I didn't know if I was allowed to walk on the inspection path to the next bordermarker 636. I decided not to do so, but to go to some other bordermarkers some kilometers away from here.
During this visit to the tripoint I didn't meet any border guard.
