Medininkai

I follow the fence and arrive at the newe border crossing at Medininkai. I see everything from behind the fence. When the customs see me, they catch me. It seems I'm in a forbidden area.

I approache the new border crossing at Medininkai. About 400 meters to go.

A nice pair. The last before the border crossing.
III-1 20140407 view over the strip
I arrived at the new border crossing. It's a higher area that gives the opportunity to take a picture of where I came from.
Still a narrow path along the fence.

I can approach the border stones very close. Of course there is a fence but it's easy to make a picture here.
I clearly saw the old fashioned sign "Belarus" like you always see it entering an old Sovjet-realted country.

A closer look at the border stones. It was a pity the truck was standing there, otherwise I could have seen the 1078 pair. There was no sign the truck would leave soon. Many, many trucks and cars but not much activity.
III-1 20140407 Through the fence
A look through the netting of the fence. Truck drivers gazed at me, what did I do at that side of the fence?
Good question...
III-1 20140407 Fence
A look at the spot where I took the pictures of the 1077 pair. This fence runs along the A3, the main road between Vilnius and Minsk. I came uphill from the right. The gate right from the camera was closed, of course.
III-1 20140407 Custom area
This was the last picture here. The guy (a custom officer) on the left of the picture notices me and arrested me. I was taken into an office on the border area. I found a picture of that building on the website of the State Border Guard Service. After some hours I had to pay a penalty of 75 Litas: I had entered the 'yellow zone', a forbidden area that starts about 200 meters before the border.
When I arrived back at my car, there was some time left before it got dark. I decided to go to the border crossing of the railroad.
