Medininkai
On my way from the old border crossing at Medininkai to the new border crossing along the A3. |
Border poles 1072 The same pattern as I saw before: a Lithuanian pile, a small marker of the real border and after that, the Belarusian pile. Go with the mouse over the picture to see the details of the Belarusian weapon. |
Border poles 1072 Again more new cameras. To make all these pictures, I had to lift my own camera over the fence. My lense is too big to stick it through the netting. |
Border poles 1073 Again the same protocol: one border marker, two piles, three cameras. |
Border poles 1073 Picture taken from the path along the fence. It makes clear that there is a huge fence! |
The fence This fence was built with EU-money to avoid smuggling and illegal entry of the European Union. The fence is rather new, I think it was built some years ago. Lithuania entered the EU however in 2004 yet. |
Border poles 1074 Some hundreds of meters further I found the 1074-pair. There is one advantage of this border: you don't need a detailed map to find it! |
Camera out of the fence The path gets narrower. I see a camera placed out of the fence. I was here now for almost an hour and I had expeced a border guard would show up to inform what I am doing so close to the gate. If some one has to watch the monitors connected to those cameras they surely would have noticed me. But no one there. Only me. |
