Bordermarkers 41 - 50
On both sides of the Lake Pabra.

Map BM 41-50
The Pabra lake is both on Estonian and Russian territory.
I visited the nothern part of the lake in April 2016 and in July 2017.

It becomes more difficult to continue. Water everywhere.

On this picture this becomes even more clear. But I continued, my feet were wet already.

On the background you can already see the direct area of the lake.

I couldn't easily come any closer.

It looks like BM 43 is the last one south of the water. I couldn't notice any other border marker from here. On the other hand, the border makes some small angles in the lake.

From here I returned to the car and drove to the north part of the lake. Due to the high water level, I didn't approach the lake that close. During my 2017-Summer visit I came back for the markers 44-47. With decent boots.

The first marker on the north part of Lake Pabra.
In July 2017 I came back here. From the north part of the lake I could reach BM 44 - 46.
Again it was not easy, insects and water everywhere. With my high boots I finally did it!

I was here in August 2015 as well, but then I had no boots and couldn't continue. Besides that, there were no Estonian border markers yet.

A bit higher ground here that makes it easier going for about 100 meters only.
From here to BM 49 I go again through the wet and swampy grounds.

Picture taken in the direction of BM 47. It was very wet and swampy here. I was not keen on going too far.
In summer 2015 I was here as well, then I went up to BM 47 but I was almost kileld by the mosquietos. The report of that tour is alos on this website (Baltic Border Tour 2015).
The border makes a 90 degrees angle here and goes straight to the north.

Same location in July 2017. Now with Estonian copy and much more vegetation.

A short but steep path brings you to BM 49. Finally it's high and dry here.

Flat again, and a very broad border strip.
When I was here in 2015, some Border Guards followed me here for a long time. Something of which I was not aware.
So if you ever consider to go to the Estonian - Russian area, don't ever cross the border!
