Bordermarkers 145 - 155
Last hike for this tour. In the morning I was brougth to the woods in the mountains east of Tarna Mare. The roads were very bad and partly closed for normal traffic. It took the driver about 30 minutes to drop me and the guide in the woody hills east of Tarna Mare.
A guide joint me, and he was ordered to show all the bordermarkers. It was a tough hike: uphill and downhill all the time, crossing bushes, chopped trees and branches, creeks and again more bushes. The guide knew the way very well an he showed patience when I was slower and when I needed time to take pictures.
We started at BM 155 and ended at 145. If I wanted I could continue until Tarna Mare but it was an exhausting hike after some intensive days on a row.

In fact, this was the last border marker we saw here. It's in a valley close to a sandy road that leads to Tarna Mare.

Border marker 146
The border crosses the creek that comes from the hills. On both sides of the water there is an Romanian border marker.

Steep hill
From 146 to 147 there is a steep hill. The top is covered by a border stone.

And then it goes down to border marker 147. Again some nasty climbings.

From 147 to 148 is about 700 meters through bushes. Besides the border markers there is no real indication of the border. So I was glad my guide knew the way here.

Not the easiest part here. The borders runs through bushes, creeks and steep parts.

Again some climbing to follow the border.

On a flat part. The border makes an angle to the south here.

Like at this whole border, the Ukrainians maintain the borderzone and the border markers quite well. The markers are freshly painted and free of vegetation.

Again in the middle of nowhere...

Warning sign and border stone
Sometimes I discovered a bordere stone not covered by high poles. I guess the border makes a small angle there. I also found some warning signs which look to be placed rather ad random. No roads or paths in this area.

A view over the border area. In middle of April, so not too much vegetation yet.

We are quite high here.

This was the first one for today. Besides the border markers, no indication of the border here.

My guide (left) and I were picked up by Adrian (right) close to BM 145. The driver took this picture.
It was really a pleasure to be in this area with so many friendly and helpful Border Police Officers!

In April 2019 I will visit the border between Moldavia and Ukraine.
