Here we met two Ukrainian Border Guards with Kalashnikovs on our way from Vyšné Nemecké to BM 251. Although we were on the Slovakian side, they asked us to wait and to show them our passports. One of them spoke English. They called their staff. It took them some effort to spell our names but after some minutes they said it was all right. We all continued our ways.

The sand road runs over Ukraine. I guess the Slovakians use it as well. And why not. A Solvakian offical once told me: "We have good relations with our Ukrainian colleagues".

Border crossing Vyšné Nemecké
Quite some traffic on this Saturday morning around 09:00h. Mainly Ukrainian workers transported in mini busses returning home for the weekend. The stopover at the border can take some hours.
Here we started our hike after we announced ourselves at the border station. As always, this starts with some confusion but in the end the Border Police Officers are very helpful and friendly.

We were guided to here to make some pictures of the border markers 299.
The border markers which every one can see when legaly crossing the border are the hardest to take pictures of, strange enough.

Border marker 300
Two friendly Border Police Officers took us with their Landrover to the south west side of the border crossing from where we could continue our hike.
