Bordermarkers 251 - 260
After a break of exactly two years due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions we continue our border hike in October 2021.
On this first day of our tour we started from the border crossing Vyšné Nemecké where we had to show up before starting our hike.
From there we went up to BM 251 east of Petrovce and then back to the border crossing.

The beginning of our last trip in the carpathian mountains. Today, we were very lucky with the weather.

We met two Ukrainian Border Guards here. When we anted to get close to the border to speak with them, they became a bit nervous,
we shouldn't enter the -very dry and hard- strip. I think they knew about our presence at the border, they didn't ask our papers and
asked if we were the 'Dutch tourists'.
Border marker 253
A very sunny autumn day. The suns shines right on the Ukrainian marker. That makes it hard to make good pictures.

Also with sun and shadows.

Somewhere here we met two Ukrainian soldiers who were partolling on their side of the border. I
think they were already informed. "Tourists Netherlands?" they asked. On our way from the border crossing we already saw two other soldiers to
whom we explained why we were here.

Agian not so easy to make a picture due to the backlight.
Border marker 259
Somewhere here the camera surveillance starts. You see it on th left.
When we were in this area in 2019 we saw masts and other materials for camera surveillance stored at the
border police station in Petrovce. But until now, they are not installed here yet.
Border marker 260
It still goes up and down here. A really beautiful and quiet area.
