Bordermarkers 141 - 150
The start of our second day of this tour. Starting in Ubl'a, ending somewhere in the hills close to Inovce.

Map 141-150
Starting in Ubl'a, ending somewhere in the hills east of Dúbrava.

The other side of the Ublianka river
Here we started in the early morning. What never happened before, we could walk from our hotel to this place. It took us only 15 minutes.
Notice BM pair 140 on the other side of the river.

After a steep hike we got a perfect view on the border crossing Ubl'a / Малий Березний.

Border marker 141
At the end of the fence we found BM 141.

Border marker 141
No more fences but lots of cameras here on the Slovakian side. Every 20 or 30 meters we found one like these.

Border marker 142
Our presence here caused some agitation. We took the 'wrong' side of the fence during the way from the river to here although we didn't cross the border. Here at BM 142 we were stopped by a young Ukrainian soldier, which is of course very strange. With the translation function on my mobile phone he made clear we hade to wait for the arrival of a superior. Within 5 minutes two Slovakian border police men arrived almost breathless. We hadn't dome anything wrong but we had to be careful not to cross the border. After this warning we could continue.
It was the first time we encountered an Ukrainian solider. But surely not the last time.

Border marker 143
So we continued. No high cameras here but again in the bush at the right every 30 meters a camera.

Border marker 145
Many of the Ukrainian copies of the border markers are in bad condition. But at least this one is being replaced.

Fishing wire
We saw it before and here again. Fishing wire to detect movements across the border. The bushes on the Ukrainian side were littered with such fishing lines.

Border marker 146
I think it was here we met the second Ukrainian soldier. For sudden he appeared out the fishing line bushes. He as well told us to stop, he was not anxious to step on Slovakian territory, which is in fact strictly forbidden -an armed soldier of a neighbouring country....
We had to tell our names, which was quite complicated for him to understand. He used his transceiver to contact his 'superiors'. We had to wait again but after 10 minutes we got green light again. You would expect that he was informed about us at the border but it looked like this was not the case.

Border marker 147
So again we could continue.

Border marker 148
Again big construction works on the Ukrainian side. BM 148 is under construction as well. The other day when I crossed the border in Ubl'a I saw at the Ukrainian border station they put cement into a mold to preconstruct the parts of border markers. I wanted to take a picture of that but that strictly forbidden. Top secret.

Hills and forest
The border meanders through the forest. In the middle of the picture there is a white car. We expected the car would come to us, but it looks they were not interested.
