Border marker 0751 Standard situation: the border makes an angle. On both sides fields, on Ukrainian side an anti-tank ditch and a sand wall.
Border marker 0752 The border looks like a straight line, but here are two small angles close to each other. In the earlier days here was a small border crossing. The only remaining could be the shed with a water well.
Border marker 0754 A fence between the two border markers. No clue why the car at the other side of the border is standing there. Most likely related to the installations of gas pipes that cross the border here.
Border marker 0755 We are almost in Cairaclia. The inspection road goes straight to the area in the middle between the two border crossing checkpoints. Not a good idea to arrive there by this road. So we took the normal road to end up at the entrance of the border crossing.

Border marker 0756 Just behind the Moldovan border check point.

Border crossing Cairaclia Small local border crossing. Not much activity on this Sunday afternoon. The end of the April 2024 expedition.

Border marker 0757 In August 2024 I was again in this area. From Cairaclia I took some bumpy and dusty roads to reach this marker close to the railway. The railway comes from Basarabeasca, crosses the border here but at BM 0760 it enters Moldova again. From there it passes Vulcanesti and at BM 0777 it runs into Ukraine again to continue to Reni. On the way back to the village the Politia de Frontiera was waiting for me. I brought out my passport and my permit but they were not interested. "Did you go to the border marker?" they asked. I said yes. Then I had to prove it by showing pictures. When taking a quick look at the first picture they said: "It's all right". That was all. Maybe they had the instruction to guide me to the border marker.

Border marker 0758 From 0757 to 0758 it was a long drive over bumpy roads and I regreted not to have visited 0757 in April. Border marker 0758 was not so easy to reach as it's surrounded by water. It's close to a bank of the Ialpug river and the Lunga-creek. And also to some bassins. In the end I couldn't come very close and I still wonder how you can reach it from Moldovan side. In the Lunga-creek there is a lock but thre is no possibility to cross it.

Border marker 0758-02 Again a long way back to the main road and then to Border Crossing Mirnoe - Tabaky. This is a local border crossing. Intermediate marker 0758-02 is located on the edge of the Border Crossing. On Ukrainian side some old vehicles.
Border marker 0759 Situated on the east side of the Moldovan Border Crossing zone. A border guard guided me. From here I was guided to the next border markers 0760 - 0764.

Border marker 0760 In Mirnoe two Border Guards took me into their Dacia Duster and brought me to the next border markers. I was very glad because the road to 0760 was bumpy and steep. My Suzuki Vitara would have had problems to go there. The railroad is the same as at BM 0757. It winds through the landscape running through both Moldova and Ukraine. |
