Map 0671-0680 The border runs east of Zviozdocica and east and south of Ucrainca, which is a village in Moldova.
Border marker 0671 Still on the hillock of this beautiful slighly bumped landscape.
Border marker 0672 From here the border runs down the hill to reach the level of a creek that leads to the lake in Ucrainca.
Intermediate border marker 0672-02 Here the border makes a 90 degrees angle and goes further down the hill.
Border marker 0673 Reachable from the road between Zivozdocica and Tocuz. I had to cross a small creek but I succeeded without getting wet feet.
Border marker 0674 Now we are in the area of the small village Ucrainca which is more or less surrounded by the border. BM 0674 is situated along a closed road between Ucrainca and connected to another road in Ukraine which is also cut by the border. That's the road which crosses the border at BM662 that ends now in the small village Lisne. On the front of this pair of border markers you find a thin almost invisable line. When you hit it, somewhere this is notified. A very old and simple but effective way of detecting smugglers at night. On the second picture again an old statute which is disrepair.
Border marker 0675 Situated along the dead ending road which runs parallel to the border.
Area of border marker 0676 Again a dead ending road. It's the same road as at BM 0662 but it's ending here. It's still tarred but not in use anymore not even by farmers. In fact it's dead ending on both ends in Moldova. You can only reach this part from by bumpy farmers roads. This road itself is blocked by a bareer, by removed pavement and even by some branches. On some parts towards the border the road is almost totally overgrown.

Border marker 0676 Detail of the two border markers on the side of the road.
Border marker 0677 In a small forrest east of the dead ending road. A bumpy road used by border guards brings you here. Notice the same thin lines as at BM 0674. |
Border marker 0678 Situated close to the other dead ending part of the former road I already mentioned. The road itself runs about 50 meters from this angle in the border. On the second picture a detail of the bared wire on Ukrainian side.
Dead ending road Another dead ending road. Decorated with a rusred barrier. One can conclude that the independency in 1991 caused that many local roads became useless. .
Border marker 0679 From Ucrainca I took some farmers roads between the fields to reach these (and the pervious) border markers.
Intermediate border marker 0679-1 Just tp give an impression about the area. A bit hilly, filled with fields. A beautiful view on this sunny morning in September.
Border marker 0680 South of Ucrainca. Close to two small lakes. I visited this spot in the late afternoon just after arriving in Chișinău. First I went to 681 and 682, then I encountered two border guards.
Border marker 0680 extra After visiting 0680 the two border guards kept me waiting for almost an hour. Although I prepared the expedition very careful and all necessary permits were granted, there was still hassle. After some calls they told me I was allowed to be here, but not to picture the border markers. I was legaly forbidden. After some telephone calls it turned out I was allowed to do it. But on own risk. 'I hope there will be no incidents', I read on 'Google Translate on the phone of the Border Guards. So I won and it was the only serious hassle during my expedition. These border guards joined me to BM 0683 - 0686. On the next remaning days I could do everything without further guidance ehich saved them and also me a lot of time.
