Tripoint Lithuania - Belarus - Poland After my visit to the LV-BY-LT tripoint I drove in about four hours to Szypliszki near the PL-LT border where I spent the night in a hotel very close to the highway A8. There was a big truck parking, a gasstation and some little shops and bars. Trucks were stopping and going the whole night. The next morning I went up early and drove to the tripoint near Stanowisko (PL). I was allowed to go there on the Lituanian and the Poish side. However,I had to call the border guard office in Plaska before I arrived to announce myself. I did it and they knew I was coming. It was no problem, I promissed not to enter the sandstrip and not to cross the border. During my visit no one was checking me. In the early morning it was a bit haizy.

	Monument On the sandroad from Szlamy (PL) to the border I noticed a Polish border pole near the road. It is part of a monument, made in memory of soldiers from 24th battalion of Polish Border Corps murdered in this place on 24th Sep 1939 by Soviet Army which attacked eastern part of Poland. Eight soldiers were exhumed in 2007 and buried here. The inscription on the monument (in Polish) "Died in defense of Polish borders". Thanks Patryk for the additional information!
	Approaching the tripoint I parked my car close to the Polish - Belarusian border. So I apporached it from the Polish side. Remarkable is the pavement on the Belarusian side from the tripoint to the last borderpole (673) on the border with Poland.
	Near the tripoint Now I am close to the tripont. Here the sandstrip ends. The Lithuanian pole is not on this picture, it's on the other side of the small river Mara.
	Polish tripoint pole A closer look at the tripoint poles: this is the Polish one. It contains the text Marycha, which is the Polish name for the small river that is the border between Poland and Lithuania.
	Belarusian tripoint pole This one contains the text "Марыха", which is the Belarusian name for the same small river. It is also the border between Belarus and Lithuania.
	Lithuanian tripoint pole This one contains the text "Маrа", which is the Lithuanian name for the small river. I wanted to cross that river to come on Lithuanian soil but there was no bridge. I could have done it barefoot but I didn't have a towel. So I stayed on the Polish side.
	The three poles I could take this picture from the Polish side, very close to the river. The river has some bendings here, so it looks like it was taken from Lithuania. From the tripoint I hiked 1,5 kilometer along the Polish - Belarusian border. Next page >>
